While there are a lot of similarities between covers, we found the most variation in size and price. A larger cover will be more expensive for say, a couch or a large table. If you're looking to cut costs, we recommend buying one cover to protect the whole patio set instead of an individual cover for each piece you own.

To find the best cover for different weather conditions, we spent over six months testing outdoor furniture covers on our own patio sets in backyards across the country in various climates. Through our testing, we discovered that the most important thing to consider is your climate and the elements you have to deal with. We evaluated each piece on its quality, performance, durability, fit, and value.

Despite months of rain, including falling leaves and branches from many overhead trees, our wooden patio furniture remained fully dry and protected under the cover. We also experienced plenty of sunny days, and the cover fabric has not faded a bit.

During testing, we noticed the high-quality, heavy-duty polyester canvas right away, even from the window looking into our backyard, and loved the straps on each side that fit the cover securely to the furniture, which was great because the cover initially seemed too big for our patio set. The cover is completely waterproof and features small structured vents on the sides to allow airflow and prevent wind from lifting the material. This further allowed the cover to withstand high winds and storms.

We also loved the size of this cover (we tested the 106 x 106-inch, square version), which was large enough to shield two couches, two chairs, one large table, and two small tables pushed together to create a large square. Even though we opted for such a large cover, we were shocked at the affordable price.

While it's not as big or affordable as our best large option, the Ruimoy Patio Furniture Covers, it's a small price to pay to keep your entire set covered with one item. However, with two colors and 12 sizes available, you're guaranteed to find one to fit your needs.

Although you can't throw this in the washer to keep it clean, you can hand-wash it if needed. Whether you have brand-new furniture you want to protect or older furniture that's starting to show a little wear from the elements (like ours does), this is a great choice.

One thing to note is that water does pool on top of this cover, so you'll need to repeatedly dump out the excess water if you live in an area with a lot of precipitation. Otherwise, our patio set looked brand new by the time spring arrived six months later.

While this is the most expensive option we recommend, it's also the largest, spanning slightly larger than our best large option, the Ruimoy Furniture Covers at 140 x 80 x 32 inches, so you are paying for that extra material and protection.

During testing, we used it to cover a round table and a set of chairs made of steel and wicker that had a unique design: you can't push them in at all under the table, so we needed a large cover like this one to protect them.

Because of the design, water pooled on top of the covered chairs after heavy rainfall rather than sliding off, which was a bit difficult to move. While this was disappointing, it was a fit issue, and we're happy to report that the furniture underneath remained dry and unharmed after six months of testing.

We found that the cinch mechanism required a bit of trial and error to get the cover tight and tough enough to avoid moisture pooling on top of the patio chairs in the future. Luckily, no fading or shrinking occurred in the sun, and no debris was collected underneath the cover because it was large enough to reach the ground on all sides.

While we had issues with the cinching and tightness of the cover, we liked that you could lock the adjustable elastic drawstring and the straps around the legs of your patio chairs or tables for added security. To fit your dining set, this cover comes in five sizes and is backed by a 3-year limited warranty in case of ripping or tearing.

Because of the round shape and unique size that fit around our entire patio set, we found the price fair. At just over $90, it's nearly the same price as the 96 x 70 x 32-inch version of our favorite option for dining sets. This round cover we tested is 96 inches in diameter, making the pair perfect to cover rectangular and and circular tables of the same size, justifying the similar price tag of the two.

There are nine other sizes available, but we're privy to the oversized option as a one-stop solution for preserving your outdoor furniture. Though it covered several pieces of furniture at once (a sectional, a chair, and a firepit table), we were able to set it up easily with just one person in about five minutes, thanks to the four padded handles. We loved that there was additional room left over in case we needed to add a piece or two to our outdoor setup.

While we tested these under a covered deck, this waterproof cover offered extra protection from water, dirt, and falling leaves. The vented design allows for air circulation, but we were worried about small animals sneaking under the cover and getting to the furniture; luckily, this has not happened yet. There are four adjustable straps and one bungee to ensure the cover fits snugly over your patio set. We didn't notice the straps loosening during the testing period and were constantly impressed by the great fit.

However, we did not love that the fold lines were still visible for days after the cover was set up, which we did not notice for any other covers we tested. If aesthetics are not your main concern when covering your furniture, it shouldn't be an issue. However, after testing this cover for months, the lines do eventually go away, which we loved.

While this is the largest cover we recommend, it is not the most expensive. At just $46 with smaller models being priced over $80, we think this is a steal for covering all of your outdoor furniture at once. Plus, it kept our furniture protected for months without a single piece of damage.

The polyester fabric and splash guard skirt help protect against moisture, and the bottom of the cover is padded for extra support; however, this storage solution is water-resistant, but not waterproof like the rest of the options on this list, and is designed to be used indoors in a basement or garage. It can be placed outdoors shortly but is not recommended for heavy rain or snow.

We used this cover for six months indoors and continued to love the ease of use of the dual zipper. It kept dirt and moisture away from our outdoor cushions with ease. If you want a fully waterproof option, you can use our favorite sofa cover from Vailge, and leave the cushions on the couch where they'll be fully protected. This will also save you money. Rather than buying a cushion storage bag ($82) and a sofa cover ($47), using just a reliable sofa cover can help cut costs. However, a bag like this just adds an extra layer of protection and is a wise investment for stormy areas.
