New Clear Barrier OPP Packaging Films Replace PVDC ...
North Kingstown, R.I. - Cost-effective, high-performance, non-PVdC-coated BOPP packaging is now available for converters and end-users. Toray Plastics (America), Inc. has introduced the new Torayfan® Clear Barrier polypropylene (BOPP) films. These films, made with proprietary resins, offer superior strength, enhanced tactile quality, and comparable moisture transmission rates to PVdC-coated films. The innovative Torayfan® CB-S heat-sealable clear barrier film and Torayfan® CB-P non-sealable clear barrier film are specifically designed to replace PVdC-coated films, making them ideal for packaging products such as tortilla chips, extruded corn snacks, pork skins, crackers, cookies, oil-based confections, and pet food.

Compared to standard OPP films, the new Torayfan® CB-S 70G and 80G, and Torayfan® CB-P 70G films possess enhanced mechanical characteristics, providing 10% higher puncture resistance. The upgraded mechanical attributes and advanced lamination surfaces ensure outstanding performance in extrusion and adhesive laminations. These films offer a 30% increase in stiffness and excellent oil resistance, contributing to improved brand appeal. Additionally, an industry-leading heat seal layer allows end users to boost packaging speeds, resulting in significant cost savings.
